Be Careful Who You Believe

Believing liars can get us in just as much trouble as lying ourselves. Every truth comes from God and every lie comes from Satan.

John 14:6: Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

John 8:32: And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

John 17:17: Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

If we haven*t received Jesus and if we are unfamiliar with the Bible, we will be suckers for all kinds of lies and liars.

Proverbs 26:28: A lying tongue hateth those that are afflicted by it; and a flattering mouth worketh ruin.

John 8:44: Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

Adam and Eve believed Satan*s lies instead of God*s truth and got the whole human race into trouble. We need to believe someone who loves us rather than someone who hates us.

Jeremiah 7:4a: Trust ye not in lying words, 8 Behold, ye trust in lying words, that cannot profit. 9:6 Thine habitation is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to know me, saith the LORD. 13:25 This is thy lot, the portion of thy measures from me, saith the LORD; because thou hast forgotten me, and trusted in falsehood. 26 Therefore will I discover thy skirts upon thy face, that thy shame may appear. 27:10 For they prophesy a lie unto you, to remove you far from your land; and that I should drive you out, and ye should perish.

Lying to ourselves is also dangerous business. When we reject and disobey the Bible we deceive ourselves. And when we believe liars, we are likely to pass on their lies to others.

James 1:22: But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

2 Timothy 3:13: But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
